Deposits and Fees

We require payment of a deposit to initiate utility service. City ordinance requires that the deposit calculation shall be based upon the utility consumption history at the service location, and the amount shall be equal to two (2) months of average consumption. Customer Care has sole discretion to change the deposit amount based upon prior customer account history with Gallup Joint Utilities.

Deposits are held and are credited to the customer account after twenty-four (24) months of good payment history. Any late payments or shutoff automatically "reset" the payment history to a new twenty-four month period. Interest does not accrue on the deposits.
